About "Dreamscape with cat" After Alvera had studied some of Salvador Dali's work, she began experimenting with the idea of fantasy in her paintings. She enjoyed the idea of painting in different colours for people other than flesh colours. To her, these colours depicted the spirituality of the person, hence the deeper purple for the adults, and the blue for the child who was still in the expressive stage of his life. This painting would look good in a complimentary health practice or in a more contemporary home. |

Alvera Walker passed away in Feb 2008 at the age of 82. She started painting at 62 when she joined a local art club in Port Alfred. Within a year she was selling potboilers at the local coffee shops. Alvera loved painting the wildlife big five, animals which she grew up with in the Rhodesian bushveld. She spent the last ten years of her life near the sea in Port Alfred, a lovely quiet seaside town in the Eastern Cape. Many of Alvera's magnificent seascapes and dolphins were inspired by the beauty of this place. She leaves a legacy of only 150 paintings that include birds, dolphins, wildlife and flowers. She also painted some whimsical paintings that she called her "What if? "paintings, which were strongly influenced by Salvador Dali. Many of her paintings have been sold to art lovers around the world and now grace some of the most beautiful homes in the world.
