About "Fractured Union"

"Fractured Union" by Mark Boshoff is a haunting exploration of emotional distance and relational complexity. A man and woman stand back-to-back, topless and vulnerable, their bodies partially fragmented into a spiralling web of shattered mirrors. The woman leans her head gently against the man's back, eyes closed, while he faces forward with quiet resolve--capturing a moment of intimacy laced with tension. I'm inspired by the play of light - how it reveals emotion in landscapes, figures, and fleeting moments. My work blends realism with symbolism, using layered brushwork, glazes, and mark-making to explore themes of solitude, transformation, and connection.
