About "Girl and Cheetah"
I wanted to show fearlessness and dignity between an African and wildlife.
I do watercolor painting and photography.I am a passionate self-taught artist. I love creativity. I love color. I love the wildness and serenity of Africa. I am an insatiable traveller, so I started sketching and painting to record my travels. Watercolors were wonderfully portable, and I like their delicacy and freshness. When people asked to buy my art, my enthusiasm took off. I have done and sold over 4500 original watercolors. I don't do prints of my work, but prefer to make a unique piece each time. I paint from my own photographs of the people and wildlife. I always loved taking photos of the tribal people to paint from but when I got my first digital camera, I found I could "paint" with it. It has a mind of its own and captures images that can be so moody and like a watercolor painting, without digital manipulation. Otherwise, I try to tell stories with it, African moments not often seen.
A few solo exhibitions and a few joint exhibitions in Canada, USA, and Namibia, but the truth be told, I found I sold paintings so fast I could never keep enough aside for an exhibition.
