About "Heaven Can Wait"
Beneath the transparent turquoise water, the submerged rocks appeared almost like the remains of a shipwreck and immediately stirred my imagination. The Knysna Heads form the entrance to the famous estuary and are an enduring landmark of South Africa's beautiful Garden Route.

About Tracey
"I paint what touches my soul."
Tracey Mae is a UK-based artist whose work has been profoundly shaped by the many years she lived in South Africa. The landscapes, wildlife, ocean, people and rich cultural spirit of Africa remain an enduring source of inspiration and continue to influence her use of colour, movement and storytelling.
Now living in Hampshire, England, Tracey Mae's artistic journey has entered a new chapter. Her work increasingly brings together her African heritage and experiences with the landscapes, stories and connections she is discovering in the United Kingdom. Working primarily in acrylics and oils, she creates expressive original paintings that seek to capture not only the appearance of her subjects, but also their character, atmosphere and emotional presence.
Tracey Mae studied art at school and later qualified in international make-up artistry, graphic art and design. Art has remained an intrinsic part of her life throughout a varied creative and professional career. She established Tracey Mae Studios in South Africa in 2017 and has continued developing the studio since returning to the UK in 2024.
Formerly Chair of the Plettenberg Bay Arts Association, Tracey Mae has participated in numerous exhibitions, arts initiatives and creative events. Her original paintings have been exhibited and sold in South Africa and are held in private collections internationally. She has also received several international art awards.
Her evolving body of work encompasses African wildlife, portraiture, the natural world, seascapes and paintings inspired by personal stories and meaningful places. She is currently expanding into bespoke commemorative and heritage artwork, combining careful research with expressive visual storytelling.
Through her paintings, Tracey Mae hopes to create a sense of connection--to nature, to memory, to place and to the stories that shape our lives.
"I have been fortunate to live among extraordinary people, wildlife, oceans, mountains and forests. Today, my surroundings may have changed, but Africa remains within me. I paint the subjects that move me, the stories that deserve to be remembered and the beauty that touches my soul."
