About "Hout Bay Fleet"

I wanted to capture the fleet safely nested in the harbour with a background of threatening storm clouds and whirling gulls.

What intrigued me was the variety of colours in the clouds and water, ranging from pinks, mauves, ochre and purples to the deep blue-green of the bay.

About Pierre

I was born in Viljoensdrift in the Free State, Rep. of South Africa in 1945.

I am a self-taught artist who makes art because I love it.

My careers in the mining industry, hotelling and later in construction has taught me to pay great attention to detail and pursue excellence.

It all started with a trip to Hout Bay a couple of years ago. The sight of a fleet of fishing boats released a long-dormant seed of creativity, which has grown into an insatiable passion for painting.

This an a love of all things nautical has influenced my choice of boats and harbours as mymain source of inspiration although I have ventured into other avenues.
