Heloïse Enslin - "Joke"
W: 305mm x H: 404mm x D: 18mm
This work is unframed
Joke "is voorgoed op reis". One of five paintings. Joke was a real dutch woman. I found her death notice in an old dutch news paper (part of the painting) that I brought back with me to South Africa. She simbolizes ANY woman that was once loved and honoured by someone...a husband, a family, colleagues, etc. I added the square block of WHITE bandage to somehow show that the loved ones eventually find healing and peace with their loss...
I do find my inspiration from Gods Creation. In nature the forms, textures and patterns normally catch my eye. I have to take a photo then...these intricate details end up as a colourful abstract painting. In contrast to this I also do like to paint landscapes, people and scenes that appeal to me in any manner. My paintings then are an impression of what I see.
