About "Journey"

This large 2,5m x 1m canvas was a commissioned work depicting the vastness of the South African Karoo landscape, celebrating springtime! It also symbolizes the journey of life and one's surrendering to the creative journey.

Some quotes used as inspiration:
"Mag jy onverskrokke wyd verken, in die seker wete dat daar altyd 'n bekende hawe is".(May you explore widely and undauntedly, confidently knowing that there will always be a familiar harbour).

“The only certainty is that we will change from who and what we are. We will become larger and something more…”
-- Julia Cameron, (The Sound of Paper)

About Renee

Renee Calitz

Renée Calitz (née Bestbier) prefers depicting different aspects of the creation, as can be seen in her paintings of nature, birds, animals (especially cats!) as well as light and changing atmospheric and weather conditions, showing sensitive drawing and subtle nuances of colour.

Another one of her interests is visually representing the Word of God, as shown in her ever-unfinished series called, “The Visual Word”.
Renee works in several media, including acrylic, watercolours, oils, silk paint on silk, pastels, pencil, pen and markers.

Price Range

US$ 60-2,338

Her work received recognition and awards from early on and she took part in several group exhibitions. After working in the field of communication, doing copywriting, graphic design and layout, she has now decided to focus on her painting again - releasing years of life experience and lots of bottled up inspiration!
