Chris d' Wet is an artist with an array of aspects in life. He not only has a very impressionistic view on art, but he also has a high quality on making and presenting food.
He is a self-taught artist who had an interest in art since he can remember. Started out with drawing pencil images in his school books, drawing faces in winter time on steamed and frosted up car and bus windows to the enjoyment of the on lookers. Later on experimented with water colours. He also loves photography and had enjoyed developing and creating photo images in the dark room set-up. Of all the various forms of art, he has found painting the most pleasing and satisfying.
Being creative and visionary is part of him as breathing. His paintings are inspired by the beauty he observes around him. He create and paint from the most simplistic geometrical shapes up to the most sophisticated, detailed and realistic images. For him each painting carefully reflects life in different facets and angles of life. He has a rather eclectic range of subject matter ranging from fishing boats, classic cars, portraits, landscapes, flowers, buildings and animals. His inspiration comes from exiting contrasts like the play of light and shadow, colour and atmosphere. Each painting is created from deep within like dipping the paintbrush into his own soul, capturing a moment in time to immortalize it on canvas.
To own a "Chris d' Wet" painting is to own part of his existence, as his work is an extraction and extension of his exciting life.
