About "Malachite Sunbird on Pink Ice Protea"

This is a photograph I found many years ago, and put it away for painting one day. Finally, after much inspiration from my Daily Paintworks fix, I finally worked up the courage to give it a bash. I love proteas, these specific ones grow in my mother-in-law's garden. Malachite sunbirds shimmer like jewels in the sun. Beautiful little birds!

About Louise

My inspiration comes in fits and starts, to tell the truth! Often, I will just get the feeling to dash into my studio and paint like mad! Or sometimes, I think about a painting for ages, and suddenly it all just comes together. I try to be flexible... I never realised until recently how strongly my emotions actually come through in my paintings. Things that bother me, or inspire me or make me happy generally show in my latest paintings. I find it really uncanny how this happens totally subconciously. If I had to try to paint how I feel, I dont think it would work! Its something that just comes from in your heart, from who you are. From WHERE you are in your life at present.
