About "Mary Dreaming"
I met the subject, she was my waitress at a local restaurant. I was struck by her happiness and positivity. She inspired me to paint the new African woman. Traditional but modern, empowered yet able to dream and be feminine. Full of dreams and possibilities.
About Melanie Adele
Melanie Adèle Williams (usually know by her middle name of Adèle) was born in the UK (South Wales) in 1970. She traveled extensively in her younger years, living in Zambia for four years. Being exposed to Africa in her early life has affected her work deeply and left her with a passion for the African way of life and the beauty of its people.
Exhibited in 1989 with the Harfield Society and once again in 2006 in a joint exhibition with two local artists Deon Tulleken and Pete Harrison.
