Originally from Hennenman, a small town from the Free State in South Africa, contemporary artist, Riathe, grew up always painting and drawing, capturing scenes around her. She currently resides in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has taken the artistic impressions she learned early on and applied them on landscapes, portraits, symbolic art and floral paintings. Riathe captures and explore mood,color and emotion, often through impressionism or abstract art. These are her 'pictures of escape.' She uses oils, acrylics and loves experimenting with other media to capture the essence of images and scenes and to incorporate a variety of textures in her art. She wants her work to evoke emotive experiences in the viewer and to communicate an interplay between what we see and what we experience.
