About "My City"
I wanted to capture my city as I see it. Often there is a culture of dissociation from beauty or worth when I hear people speaking about my city. It's important to not be influenced by the hardness of life and to consistently reposition your perspective if you want to change the culture to one of reaffirming value and worth. I want to see the "gold" in my city and I want others to see it. I've been struck by this concept and to be a culture changer, it's starts with my perspective of my city and then extends to the people of my city. Who were they created to be? Who was I created to be? To capture the essence of this painting in two sentences..."I am not my city. We coloured the city."
My passion for fine art began from a young age and I have since grown to showcase my work in small exhibitions. Since I have no formal training in fine art, I have a tendency of breaking the rules. I prefer to work with oils but have been experimenting with other mediums. I love colour. I wish we could see more of it in the world. One day I will have a mint green scooter and an art studio. Perhaps a scarf and flask of coffee as well.
