About "Namaqualand Dream"
My first ever trip to Namaqualand was in 2003 to see the world famous display of flowers which carpets the countryside annually. That year was the first season in 25 years that no flowers bloomed at all due to lack of rain in the area. Just the dry, barren landscape existed. This painting is my dream of what it would have looked like.
My paintings reflect a myriad emotional responses to moments in time: sights, sounds, music, color and mood. The subject matter depends on whatever has ignited my imagination and can range from commissioned portraits to wildlife, landscapes to still life, and anything in between. I am self taught and continue to learn each time I pick up the paint brush.
Various group exhibitions including Art in the Park, Pietermaritzburg.
