About "Nelson Mandela - Hope"

The title "Hope" of this painting, embodies the symbolism of Nelson Mandela's sacrifice for what he represented and believed in. The dawning of a new democracy, hope for liberation, peace, equality and justice for all. The painting has been worked in oils using a palette knife giving depth and texture. DONATED TO CHARITY

About Charmayne

Charmayne Kempster

"In the eye of the beholder" the beauty in the very ordinary which can be portrayed by the artist as something extraordinary is fascinating to me! A subject or image that can be interpreted by each in their own very special very different way. The complexity of hues and textures is what excites and motivates me. I am always drawn to the finer detail as opposed to merely simplifying an object. My love for nature, the environment and the human condition will reflect in my works. If my work can resonate with the viewer and evoke a sense of emotion and pleasure then I will have achieved the ultimate satisfaction!

Charmayne Kempster lives in Cape Town. She is an ardent supporter of childrens rights and conservation. She had a brief study period in drawing and painting of the figure during her 7 year stay in Seattle USA and completed a diploma in floral design. She has contributed works to fund raisers for charity over the years and has done a number of private commissions.
