African Dreamcatcher Series #8
About "Pathway to Heaven"
This is a painting from my African Dreamcatcher series.
A dreamcatcher or dream snare is handmade from a willow hoop. The hoop is then filled with the imitation of a spider's web made from fine yarn and decorated with sacred personal items, like feathers and beads.
Dreamcatchers are not meant to last forever - they are hung above a child's bed to protect him from nightmares, but are supposed to dry out and disintegrate with a child's coming of age.

Miranda grew up in the small farming community of Williston, South Africa and received a B. Arch. Stud. (Architecture) from the University of the Free State.
She spent more than 7 years working as a graphic artist and web designer, while freelancing as an architectural designer.
She also studied drawing and acrylics part time for a number of years at the Menlyn Private Art School headed by Salomi Prinsloo, one of South Africa's most loved artists.
Miranda loves all things creative and enjoys blending arts, switching from digital to a real brush and back, sewing found objects onto canvasses, dreaming and scheming about the endless new possibilities that await us in art, and in life, if we but approach it with an open and positive mindset.
