About "Pearl in the Oyster - Fine Art Aluminum Giclée"
Pearl in the Oyster is an intimate study of light, translucency and natural form. Within the irregular curves of an oyster shell rests a single luminous pearl, its smooth surface contrasting with the layered, weathered textures surrounding it.
Soft daylight moves across shell and pearl, revealing subtle shifts of ivory, blush, warm gold and violet-grey. The pearl carries a quieter meaning: something precious formed slowly and hidden from view before its beauty is revealed, suggesting patience, transformation and the treasures that emerge through time.
Created in the spirit of Leone Tonkinson's Solar Realism, the work explores how light can give an ordinary object presence, intimacy and meaning.

About Leone
Leone Tonkinson is a South African-born fine artist based in the Netherlands and founder of Solar Realism, a painting approach centred on the presence and character of natural light.
Working primarily in oils, she combines traditional layered painting techniques with close observation, creating still lifes, wildlife and botanical works marked by luminosity, quiet presence and finely observed detail.
Her South African roots and her life within the Dutch landscape both inform her work, bringing together warmth, nature and a strong sense of place. Rather than simply depicting a subject, Tonkinson seeks the moment when light, atmosphere and presence give it emotional resonance.
Her work is held in private collections and exhibited in the Netherlands and internationally.

Exhibitions
Leone Tonkinson has exhibited in both South Africa and Europe, with recent exhibitions in the Netherlands. Her work is held in private collections internationally.
She is the founder of Solar Realism, a painting approach that explores light not simply as illumination, but as an active presence within the subject. Through traditional layered oil-painting techniques, careful observation and controlled natural light, form, atmosphere and emotional presence emerge together.
Her work applies this approach to still life, wildlife and the natural world, where reflected light, transparency, texture and subtle shifts in colour become part of the subject itself.
Education
Formal training in architecture, design, and classical oil
