About "Playful Dophins" Alvera produced a number of dolphin paintings after she received a postcard from her daughter who was visiting Hawaii at the time. The photo on the front of the card was of a dolphin painted by a local Hawaiian artist. Alvera was so inspired by this postcard that she spent much time exploring the idea of how dolphins live and play under the sea. This is one of nine paintings still available in this category. |

Alvera Walker passed away in Feb 2008 at the age of 82. She started painting at 62 when she joined a local art club in Port Alfred. Within a year she was selling potboilers at the local coffee shops. Alvera loved painting the wildlife big five, animals which she grew up with in the Rhodesian bushveld. She spent the last ten years of her life near the sea in Port Alfred, a lovely quiet seaside town in the Eastern Cape. Many of Alvera's magnificent seascapes and dolphins were inspired by the beauty of this place. She leaves a legacy of only 150 paintings that include birds, dolphins, wildlife and flowers. She also painted some whimsical paintings that she called her "What if? "paintings, which were strongly influenced by Salvador Dali. Many of her paintings have been sold to art lovers around the world and now grace some of the most beautiful homes in the world.
