Sunflowers are my favourite flowers, they are strong and resilient and can sprout and grow anywhere if they receive enough sun. I aspire to be like that, as I am sure everyone does.

About Karlien

I started drawing and painting almost before I could speak and had my first art class at the age of 4. After falling in love with Gustav Klimt' works, as well as with Expressionistic paintings, I developed a strange style in high school that seemed influenced by these works.

Whilst I was studying (BA) Fine Arts they tried to put me in a box and asked me to make my work more realistic. I am not a cat, I do not feel the need to sit in a box :)

As I purely paint for myself, not because I want to but because I need to, I paint whatever and whenever I want and it is not influenced by current trends, just my thoughts or emotions.
