About Mare
Mare is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.
To date Maré has had 20 one-man exhibitions of her artworks, throughout South Africa, Namibia and France. Her patrons include members of parliament, large business corporations and commissions by schools, tertiary institutions and municipalities.
She specialises in landscapes, still life studies and portraits on commission. Maré is one of Cape Town's few artists who still paints the original Bo-Kaap and District Six. The art mediums she prefers include oils, water colours, pastels, as well as silk painting.
Maré has established two art schools in the Eastern Cape and is currently teaching in Melkbosstrand as well as in Durbanville. She is well known for her contribution to establish new artists.
Through the years, she has been approached by many primary and secondary schools to judge art competitions as well as share her knowledge on the interpretation of children's art. Maré has addressed and intrigued many audiences where she shared her knowledge of art in general, art history and her appreciations thereof.
Maré and her husband Danis live in Melkbosstrand. She is mother of 3 children. Her oldest son Francois and her daughter Christelle are also artists.
