About Justin

Justin Dempster

My work stems from an appreciation of paint and image working together. This approach has influenced my studies of wildlife in that I try to retain an element of the contemporary and abstract with the ground tending to be worked in textured colour.
Since moving to the South Coast in KwaZulu Natal I have been made increasingly aware of our need to counter the pressures on our ecological diversity. Therefore, through an ongoing series of wildlife paintings I intend to contribute to the struggle by trying to help prevent the loss of one of our most beautiful creatures and South Africa's most endangered large carnivore, Lycaon Pictus or the African Wild Dog.
With the sale of each of my paintings I give 10% to their conservation and I make my donations to Zambia Carnivores which focuses on the Wild Dog and to the carnivore programme at Kruger National Park via the EWT which holds the Wild Dog as it's flagship species.
