About Arina

Arina is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Born in East London, South Africa I grew up on our family farm in the Elliot district. During those days I started drawing and painting. I am a self taught artist.

I have always been drawn to detail and it's been the realist painters who have been the source for my inspiration, from the Dutch Masters to contemporary painters such as Scott Prior, Scott Fraser and Gregory Gillespie.

Though I prefer not to label myself a Still Life painter, Still Life's feature predominantly in my work. My paintings are the result of combining photographic references, direct observation and imagination.

My work has also been chosen out of local artists for the yearly Winter Exhibition and have been exhibited in the Strydom Gallery in George. I mostly work in oil and use board.
