About Mariaan
Mariaan Krog is an artist & photographer from South Africa.
She has been painting for 25 years and has done mostly commissioned paintings over the years. After years as a business admin specialist, the artist decided to start freelancing as an independent photographer & visual artist.The bulk of her work consists of paintings commissioned by clients & photos in macro of flowers.
In 2008, she started to receive work for photo shoots & portraits. As a novice and newcomer in the world of professional photography, she realises she still has a long way to go, but it does not deter her to pursue her dreams. As a result of this, her passion & enthusiasm for her subjects shine through in her work. Her photos show a love for life, a kind spirit & a love for nature. Her favourite subject to photograph, is closeup (macro) photos of flowers.
As with her photos, her paintings show her vigour & her sharp eye for fine detail. The artist prefers to work in a traditional & realistic style. Painting of abstracts is a style she is busy experimenting with. Her favourite subjects when painting, include Africa and its people.
She loves the African continent and although she feels that dark times are still lying ahead, she believes that each African can make a difference, just by living the African dream.
