Robert Macintosh Jr.

About Robert

Robert is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Robert was born in 1978 in Johannesburg, South Africa and currently resides in Blouberg, Western Cape. The artist spent his childhood at the foot of his fathers easel experimenting with his inherited artistic ability. His Hyper-realistic style and appreciation for fine art was acquired through studying fine art under his father, world reknowned photographic realist Rob MacIntosh Sr. Through his apprenticeship Robert has acquired a technique and understanding of fine art that his father has mastered. Having learned these skills, Roberts work has evolved, developing his own unique style, his brush strokes have become more lucid and he uses brighter bolder colours. When hanging both Father and Sons work next to each other the viewer can clearly see the differences in style and palette between the two great artists. As you will see in Roberts portfolio, he enjoys painting a vast array of subjects from Still life to wildlife. Robert has always enjoyed figurative work and is often commisioned to paint figurative portraits by his clients. Robert turned professional in 2004, and is currently considered one of the top up and coming fine artists in South Africa. Robert still spends many hours with his father at the easel and feels that everyday he learns something new about his ability.
