About Carel

Carel is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Carel Mare was born in Pretoria. From a young age it was evident that he had an incredible talent for painting.
He was one of Otto Klar's students, after which he then studied for a further three years at the Pretoria College's Art school under the auspices of Zakkie Eloff, Albert Wert and Johan van Niekerk.
Walter Batiss advocated him to study further in the fine arts. He then spent a further three years studying fine art in Paris, France at the Ecole Des Beaux Arts.
For the last 20 years he has been imparting his wealth of knowledge in his own art classes. Not only has he taught private students, but has also taught in various schools.
His passion and love of painting is undeniablly seen in each of his creations.
