Joan Mather

Joan is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

I was born & raised in Zimbabwe and from an early age loved drawing. My High School art teacher gave me a lot of encouragement towards further studies during the last school year. I attended an art college after leaving school and continued with my interests after I was married. We lived in the bushveld for many years surrounded by the beauty of nature which gave me great inspriration. I have tried many aspects of art over the years, pottery, porcelain dolls, needlework & many kinds of different hobby crafts always returning to painting, my prefered medium being oil. Now we have retired have been able paint full time the past two years. While wild life is the most interesting, I have tried to capture all aspects of interest but still find nature the more fascinating & challenging. I have received great encouragement and confidence from my family which has inspired me to continue with art as my career.
