About Marthie

Marthie is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Marthie grew up in the old Northern Transvaal (now Limpopo Province) Bushveld, which instilled in her a keen interest in and love for nature. She later moved to Pretoria where she resided for almost forty years. Her wanderlust and curiosity resulted in extended travels in Southern Africa, Europe, The Middle East and Asia.
Initially, she expressed her love for creative art in woodcarving and creating woodcarving designs and conducted private classes in woodcarving for a number of years.

After retiring in 2000 she returned to the Bushveld and settled in Kokanje, near Nylstroom (now Modimolle). She joined the local Art Society and decided that Oil would be the ideal medium to represent her impressions of Nature.
Under the guidance of Willem Nezar she soon started producing Bushveld, Desert and Sea Landscapes of the areas she visited on her travels.
Recently she turned her hand to producing paintings of Wildlife and Flowers.

Marthie’s representation of the diversity of the South African landscape has resulted in some of her works finding their way to the homes of South Africans living abroad.
She has also completed a number of commissioned works of Family farms for people now living in our big cities.
