About Ivan

Ivan Vincent

Artist died on 23 March 2009

Ivan Vincent was born in Berlin in the Eastern Cape. He trained as an architect and went into practice in 1951 eventually retiring in 1991.

He started painting as a child, and as an adult took part-time courses under the well known South African artist, Jack Lugg. He also took a course in print-making.

During the 90[0x1]s, Ivan Vincent completed a Diploma in Fine Art when he retired as a full time Architect, through the Buffalo City FET College (then known as the East London Technikon) under the auspices of the Port Elizabeth Technikon. The principal of the institution was the then well-known artist Mr. Di Williams.

His works display technical skills in both oils and watercolour. The theme is very Eurocentric in content.
Ivan currently is still painting scenes of the coastline in watercolour.
