About "Naked Desert #2"

These paintings, one in a collection of three, was inspired by the Namib Dessert with its unusual lines of sun and shade. Sometimes these lines form figures. The colour of the dunes reminds one of a young womans skin.

Anja Wakeford

Anja is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

I live on the outskirts of Pretoria (South Africa) next to the Roodeplaat Dam with my husband, two of our three sons and our four lively dogs. It is in these picture perfect surroundings of my creator, bushveld & water, that I find a lot of my inspiration.

I have had art classes since the age of four. My sense of art is inhited from my fahter who is an Architect. I have experience in pencil/chalk sketches, acrylic/water/oil paint, pottery, sculpture, mosaic and stained glass. In 2004 I did a further coarse in oil painting at Unisa. My favourite mediums at the moment are oil, acrylic & oil pastels. Although I have a passion for animals, I work in a big variety of themes.

We have total freedom in creating something out of different mediums.
