Reference Sister Moon and base About "Sister Moon" This sculpture was inspired by the decorative carvings on functional African ware. The base is taken from a weaving loom. Sister Moon refers to St. Catherine who began the movement of Francescan nuns, had a deep love for St. Francis of Asisi, Brother Sun. Silver is traditionally associated with the moon and the feminine element. The shape of her head is crescent shaped as a half moon and the metallic shine is saintly. |
