About "African Fisherman"

There is just something about the South African sunset. Its rich in colour, yet calm; there is movement, yet stillness. This picture is really one of the most beautiful sunsets of your country

About Susan

Susan Dry

Born in 1978 in Nylstroom, where nature embraces the lovely Waterberg district, I started my journey with art as a young girl. I am blessed to be talented in a broad spectrum of art and thankful to God for my special gift and talents. I understand the process of creativity and innovation and enjoy a wide range of art making from on-scale model building to sculpture and ceramics. I know how to use photography in fine arts in the process of graphics, sketching, lino printing and painting.
In 2000, I completed my Interior design diploma in at Pretoria Technicon. I married and 4 years later, we started a family. In 2008, I started my own business, but as a mother, my children played such an important part in my daily routine that I felt a profound need to teach them all I know. To be the most successful mother I become an art teacher.
I recently completed my Master's degree in Fine and Applied arts and Art theory. I am currently studying Pastoral Narrative Art Therapy at Coram Deo. My studies continually improve my conceptual self-image, developing new ideas and skills along the way. I experience the patience and acceptance of my beloved husband and children continually with every new day.
To visualise my approach to my work, I try to comprehend the question of self-identity, present day existence and family relations as part of connectivity and family history. To be able to commend with more understanding on current social and political statuses in South Africa, I chose to look to my own family history and connectivity.
In my work, I include the omnipresence of God who created all peoples.
