About "Bluff Yacht Club - Durban"

The Bluff yacht Club in Durban is one of the oldest yacht clubs in the country and the atmosphere there is laid back and tranquil.

The day on which I captured this scene, was quiet and sunny, with very little activity which is what i have tried to express in this painting.

About Pierre

I was born in Viljoensdrift in the Free State, Rep. of South Africa in 1945.

I am a self-taught artist who makes art because I love it.

My careers in the mining industry, hotelling and later in construction has taught me to pay great attention to detail and pursue excellence.

It all started with a trip to Hout Bay a couple of years ago. The sight of a fleet of fishing boats released a long-dormant seed of creativity, which has grown into an insatiable passion for painting.

This an a love of all things nautical has influenced my choice of boats and harbours as mymain source of inspiration although I have ventured into other avenues.
