About "in war, no-one wins"
this is about war, the checks refer to both chess, a war game, and the chequered flag donoting the winner. but looking deeper, there is black and white (good versus evil), grey areas (where the conflict often begins, and poppies, (as in Flanders)because the end never justifies the loss of life. The title isn't actually accurate, the arms dealers do win.

About Sue
I love expressing my reaction to what I see around me in bold loose brushstrokes and vibrant colours, sometimes abstract, sometimes not! My themes and the way I express them vary widely. I used to work mainly in oils, but also use photography and collage to express ideas. The latest series of work uses encaustic and cyanotype. The melted wax brings a wonderful dimension of transparency and texture to the work.
