About "Poplars turning Colour near Clarens"

The cosmos and the vivid, changing colours of autumn were so awe-inspiring during our trip through Clarens, I couldn't help myself! I love colour and this scene was too beautiful to miss out on.

About Christine

Christine Schoeman

When my children left home it was time to start on my bucket list - at the top of the list was oil painting. I was lucky enough to be able to follow my dream in a studio of my own in our new home. I attended classes locally and in Queenstown and also sent my work to my sister-in-law Margaret, a well-known and highly-acclaimed artist in the Western Cape, to crit.

I paint whenever I can, read widely and have been influenced by some British and American artists, whose books have been a great inspiration. I have also been inspired by several famous South African artists whose work we have collected over the years.

Much of my work is based on photographs taken from the back of a motorbike. My husband is a keen motorcyclist and we have toured extensively in South Africa and in Europe. We try to stay off the beaten track and to explore the roads less travelled.

My family has been enormously encouraging and supportive of my painting and I enjoy the pleasure of expressing myself this way. I don't regard myself as a one-dimensional artist and love the challenge of different topics that interest me: landscapes, portraits, flowers, sea scenes etc.
As can be seen from my work, I love colour.
