I am a Colorist and have the natural ability to feel colour deeply.
I have always felt and taught the importance of colour when replicating on canvas what nature has already created.
Colour... is the reason why I am drawn to all varieties of flowers. Whether they are soft and delicate or exotic and robust, they are beauties that are either whisked away in a day or brood over days to be admired or even to be transferred indoors to be loved and prized.
My knowledge in communicating with colour is my ability to feel and convey the warmth or coolness of each tube of colour in my artist workbox. I instantly know when to energize or when to be soft and gentle with the application of the paint colour on the brush. I immediately know the bias of each colour and am able to use these undertones to make my paintings come alive with interesting combinations.
My interest in colour and the bias of a colour was encouraged by Jack White who promoted the use of the Double Primary Method. It is this method I still use and teach to this day and it is when the colour "mud" becomes the base of most of your colour mixes.
In December 2015 I was introduced to ALCOHOL INKS and because of their vivid colour spectrum was totally hooked. I worked on combining various chemicals to master the bloom of the inks on Yupo paper (polypropylene non-porous plastic paper), but found that the best team-up was - 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. Unfortunately, due to Covid19 the alcohol has been in short supply.
Painting is a Joy, when age never comes into the equation as it is a time when all else is forgotten save the Joyous Mood of creating a story of beauty.
MY PAINTINGS ARE AN IDEAL BIG PIECE OF BOLD ART for the CONFIDENT OWNER.
