About Stanley

Stanley Grootboom

Stanley Donavin Grootboom was born in Coldstream, a small village in the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. He
matriculated with an exemption at The Knysna Senior Secondary School where he captained the chess team and was awarded his Provincial Colours in chess.
He obtained a Diploma and Certificate from the Paris ABC School
of Art, a division of the Home Study College.
He was also awarded Diplomas in Business Management and Computer Literacy Cum Laude from the BMTC Johannesburg.
He also studied law, but his dream was to become a Fulltime Artist
Although he never received any art formal art lessons at school, this did not prevent him from following his dream.
After school, he frequented the library where he studied books on the masters like Rembrandt. His inspiration is the living village, its people and the surrounding landscape.
His Subject matter reflects ordinary people in everyday situations, South African Cultural Paintings as well as the South African Land & Sea Scapes. He works in Oils, Water Colours, Acrylics & Mixed Media.
He took part in numerous exhibitions and has had works purchased
by prominent politicians & business people nationally and internationally.
