About "Walvis Bay"
Rusted signs lends itself to the corrosive elements of the harsh Namibian coastline. Everything rusts, where time stands still. Yet bullet holes break the tranquility.
Ian Mackie was born in 1967. He studied Graphic Design at East London Technicon. Ian paints in a variety of mixed media ranging from oils and charcoal to working on rusted metal sheets. His "Afrocentric" style is a unique and varied mixture, influenced by African myth, social commentary, animals, icons and landscapes.
Ian has exhibited in London and Cape Town and has sold works to buyers from the United Kingdom, Germany, South Africa and the US.
Studied art at the East London Technical College
