About "African Queen"
This was one of my first paintings of an african woman. It has taken me a while, but I am now ready to let her go.

Bright colours inspire me, and whatever I paint will almost certainly have loads of texture. Although I try to paint smaller paintings, I enjoy the larger than life ones more.
The African woman inspires me. I love to paint them, with pots on their heads and multi coloured, layered clothing.
Florals are also up there with my favourites. Poppies, tulips and calla lillies are amongst my favourite. Roses also crop up from time to time.
Prior to painting I had my own business designing glamorous evening wear and wedding attire. Even though I had a successful business, painting is certainly the best therapy from everyday stresses.
I have been painting on and off for the past 7 years, selling more on a word of mouth basis, having participated in a few small exhibitions. Several of my paintings have been sold in the UK.
The family are a very important component in the success or failure of ones ventures. Fortunately my husband and children are a constant source of encouragement- let's face it, we all need encouragement from time to time.
The idea of exposing my art on this website is to share a bit of who I am with the person who takes the time to stop and have a look.
I hope you will enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoyed painting them.
