About Nikatita
There are two facets to Niki's portfolio, she works in two different aptidudes. One being acrylics and oils contemporary fine art on stretched canvas and the other black & white fine art crosshatch using a rapidograph instrument working with a 0.18mm cone on paper (see Niki Saunders portfolio on this website).
Her interest in painting with acrylic and oils was a recent one. In early 2012 she noticed the market trend developing more towards contemporary, bright, bold & colourful and so her journey began in practising and playing with colour. Learning to be bold and unafraid of gambling with the colour and textures was one of her prerequisites.
She travels around the Western Cape with her camera and sketchbook visiting various townships sourcing and collecting reference material which she brings back to her studio to paint. Her greatest satisfaction is the poser's look of pure delight when presented with a copy of the finished piece.
Niki has exhibited in Zimbabwe, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
