My life experience has been very varied. After 2 years at the Johannesburg School of Art (1978 & 1979) boredom set in and I spent six months working in the display department of a clothing chain. After that there was a brief foray into the world of advertising, which did not suit me at all, after which I successfully ( and lucratively ) free-lanced for 9 years. There was another brief period once more in a display department, but corporate life was not for me. In 1991 I moved to Graaff-Reinet and with my partner set up a business which was intended to not only generate income for us, but also to create jobs. After 8 hard years, during which we learned a lot but also lost a lot of money, we closed it down. This was followed by 5 years during which we owned and ran a very successful Bed & Breakfast and Restaurant which was sold in 2004. Since then I have had the freedom [0x1] finally [0x1] to devote time to my various creative interests. September 2004 saw the exhibition [0x1]Hidden Colour[0x1] which was concerned with Karoo Landscapes. This was followed by [0x1]Life On Mars[0x1] in 2005, a complete departure from the work of the previous year. I have also been writing articles for magazines and newspapers, drawing a cartoon strip, and doing logos and illustrations for various products.
