About "Cross"

My aim is to create natural, individual art and design that invokes memories of the seashore. I intertwine these bleached and weathered pieces to create unique driftwood sculptures and forms depending on what wood is available and interesting.

I seek to show the beauty of His creation, however imperfectly translated through the talent He has given me[0x1].

Welcome to my site.
My name is Anneri Marais.

My family and I reside in East London, South Africa. I am a mom of two beautiful boys, Niel and Louwrens.

My primary meduim is soft pastels although I use acryl on odd occasions.
Most of my portraits are painted using photographs taken in my
studio or provided by my clients for reference.

2009 - My new palette[0x1]Driftwood!!! I scour beaches for unique pieces to assemble, build and intertwine into wall mounted sculptures or fix it to a backing frame. I[0x1]m fascinated by the way wood have been modified and weathered by the ocean and nature[0x1]s elements.

The response from people who see my work is amazing and the demand is going to keep me busy, busy, busy. What a wonderful, inspiring world!
