About "Female Torso"
Female Torso Bronze Sculpture by Izidro Duarte
This evocative bronze sculpture captures the elegance and power of the feminine form through a striking balance of tension and grace. Female Torso presents a headless, freestanding figure mid-motion, as if in the act of casting off a cloak or embracing transformation. The fluid movement of the garment contrasts with the poised stillness of the torso, creating a visual rhythm between vulnerability and strength.
The finely textured surface and patina highlight the musculature and contours of the body, while the absence of a head shifts focus to form, gesture, and symbolism. Rooted in classical tradition yet undeniably contemporary, this work celebrates the resilience, sensuality, and mystery of the female body -- inviting reflection on identity, presence, and the layered expressions of womanhood.
