About "Ferns in the Forest" When Alvera began marketing her work on the internet she learnt how to surf the net. What caught her eye was the beautiful decals that some designers used to beautify their websites. She began designing her own decals which spontaneously grew into these fun modern art paintings. This is a brilliant picture to hang in a modern minimalistic room, where the painting will be the centre of attraction. It looks great with a spotlight focussed on it. |

Alvera Walker passed away in Feb 2008 at the age of 82. She started painting at 62 when she joined a local art club in Port Alfred. Within a year she was selling potboilers at the local coffee shops. Alvera loved painting the wildlife big five, animals which she grew up with in the Rhodesian bushveld. She spent the last ten years of her life near the sea in Port Alfred, a lovely quiet seaside town in the Eastern Cape. Many of Alvera's magnificent seascapes and dolphins were inspired by the beauty of this place. She leaves a legacy of only 150 paintings that include birds, dolphins, wildlife and flowers. She also painted some whimsical paintings that she called her "What if? "paintings, which were strongly influenced by Salvador Dali. Many of her paintings have been sold to art lovers around the world and now grace some of the most beautiful homes in the world.
