I am an artist living in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa!
As a child I loved to create, from decorating teachers classrooms with my art to Granny teaching me how to sew. even that colourful garden that I grew up in inspired me to play with the vibrant flowers. I studied architecture and fashion design, and ran my own clothing factory for 10 years.
I am now a full-time artist, and to this day I love colour, texture and fun in my work. I like anything that can come to life and result in interaction with the viee mostly a smile, but sometimes a bit of forgotten sadness close to my heart.
Oil is my absolute favourite medium; the richness in colour inspires me. As I do experiment with texture and impasto I use lots of other medium, but always finish my work in oil! thereby adding to the rich textures for which my work is widely recognized. The various medium and techniques provoke textures and produce pleasant surprises even to myself sometimes! My paintings explode with brilliant colour and artistic flair of desirable texture that must be seen to be appreciated!
I enjoy happy and colourful work and I favour faces and happy scenes as can be seen in my now famous Dolly and Charley series, my musical series as well as my happy houses farm scenes. People and characters inspire me therefore donkeys that smile, music instruments that come alive and houses that look like they are talking!!
]There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing somebody enjoys my paintings, especially if it results in a smile on their face! Hopefully my work which is displayed here will do exactly that!
