View all 11 works by Liz Williams About Liz I was born in the Eastern Cape, grew up on a cattle farm, right on the sea, and studied Fine Art in Durban. At the moment I am living in a remote part of Northern Portugal, very close to the Spanish border. I have always loved oil paints, their tactile qualities, and bold brushtrokes, artists like Matisse, and also Hockney, esp. the Expressionistic interiors that he painted in California, in the 1990's , also the portraits of his dachshunds.I also admire young artists like Elizabeth Peyton and Cecily Brown.
