Madosini is a tradtional Xhosa woman from the Transkei. She plays the Uhadi instrument as seen in the artwork. It is a stick instrument with a calabash (plant) that resonates the sounds. She has travelled globally with WOMAD sharing her beautiful voice and storytelling of her land.
An Ode to the Woman of Africa. They have maintained our heritage and culture. Each artwork sold, proceeds will be given to the woman in the picture as well as a community project introducing solar ovens into their region. 15 years ago, i spent time with a traditional healer, during the period i had a dream, of all the tradional woman dressed in a vast landscape, i floated through them. I told the healer of the dream, he said to me that the dream meant one day i would help all these women. so, this series is a strong locamotive to make the dream come to fruition.
