A million flowers! I named this "Mbalenhle" which is a Zulu girls name meaning "Beautiful flower". The scene is set in the Drakensberg in spring-time when the cosmos are profuse. I have used a heavy impasto technique to highlight the vibrant colours and textures of the flowers. A painting that attracts a lot of attention or one that you can just gaze into.
I have always had artistic talent and have an absolute obsession to paint. I believe that obsession is more important than talent - it's that special ingredient that shows in the work. I also believe that artists should paint only subjects that they love - otherwise, what's the point?
Co-ordination of international cultural exchange which took place in Brazil in 1994 and was hosted by the South African Embassy and the Academia Brazileira de Belas Artes.
