About "Porcupine Cross"
Each Porcupine Quill is perfect. This inspired me to think of something in which I can incorporate it. The shape of the short quill reminded me of perspective vanishing in the distance with its sharp point. The cross motive appeared when I added the long quills and then the rest of the work took shape. I felt that I wanted to convey the intensity and energy of the crucifiction through using an Impasto technique. The minimalistic approach combined with the rich reds on raw canvas gives the work further impact.
Antons painting interest started at school but sports, woman and cars got the best of him. One of his paintings at school won an International Award in Australia. He revisited his painting passion again from 2006 onwards, is self taught and does not specialise in a specific style. His paintings is a reflection of what he experience when encountering different views of life and he only paints what he has experienced. Painting has become more than a hobby and now boarders on an obsession. Maybe this is his way of catching up on lost time[0x1][0x1]or trying to tell his story through pictures rather than words.
