About Githe

Githe is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

I paint because I need to express my awe and wonder at God’s amazing creation.
My paintings are purely an expression of joy!

Like Matisse I believe art should be "a soothing, calming influence upon the mind", and like Irma Stern that "the first merit for a picture is to be a feast for the eye".

I am fascinated by the beauty of Africa and her people - by the undying Hope! In particular I am inspired by African woman, their poise and strength, beautiful at all ages.

I love the sea, the changes caused by light, reflections, clouds and sky. I play with contrasts in landscapes: A lighthouse in a stormy night; a dry grassland while there's the promise of rain in the clouds...

And my abstracts are emotional expressions when pure images are not enough...

We are surrounded by beauty! My bold brush strokes and strong bright colours reflect some of the wonder of my subjects!

I have participated in three different group exhibitions - the last one benefiting a nonprofit organization helping pregnant woman.
My work is also showcased in art galleries in Stellenbosch and Franscchoek
