About Marlene

Marlene Swart

I believe that we are all created in God's image. Therefore I also believe that we are all creative and that this creativity should be developed. I paint with all of my heart and soul. As I dip the brush into the paint, it becomes a part of me. My works are deeply personal; simplistic yet dreamlike. I am inspired by God, our Creator and guided by God the Holy Spirit.

The open fields of the Eastern Free State with its vast blue skies and the beautiful gold and ochre colours of autumn remind me of what Hugh Stenson once said: Young love is pale pink and lemon - wait till it gets ochre and crimson.

I will always be cognisant of the fact that we paint by the Grace of God and that our purpose is to create works of art in order to glorify Him. Isaiah 62:2 is my inspiration to continue with this life work.
