About Louise

Louise van Tonder

Louise is an Artist with SouthAfricanArtists.com based in South Africa.

Formerly from Bloemfontein, now based in the Karoo town of Jansenville, Louise produces a range of works that deeply reflect the character of the country's landscape and it's inhabitants. Louise works primarily in watercolour, venturing with equal feeling and skill into mixed media and oils when the mood takes her. She gains inspiration from the paints themselves - in the way colours flow, intermingle and 'gesels met mekaar'. (Talk to each other.) She has been a full time artist since 1983 after starting her career as a potter. She has attended workshops with many artists including Derric van Rensburg, Richard Rennie and Colin Nockles.
